We know the rising cost of living is putting significant pressure on students, with rent being one of the biggest financial challenges.
At Handshake, we're dedicated to supporting every student in building the career they dream of—no matter where they come from. That's why we're introducing this campaign: to help you keep your career aspirations ‘live rent free’ in your mind, without the worry of rent holding you back.

What’s the Live Rent Free campaign about?
We’re giving UK students the chance to win one of 15 prizes, each worth £3,000. This money can be used to help cover rent, support your career development, or fuel your passion projects.
By joining Handshake, students will unlock access to a platform built for the next generation of talent—connecting you to jobs, internships, and career opportunities globally.
How can you use the £3,000?
- Pay your rent: Imagine the relief of not having to worry about rent for a whole term. Cover your accommodation costs and focus on what matters most—your studies, experiences, and future career.
- Fuel your passion: Not paying rent? No problem! Use the prize to invest in your passion—whether it’s launching a startup, pursuing a creative project, or anything else that drives you forward.
- Boost your career: Take things to the next level by using the prize for professional development. Invest in courses, certifications, or networking opportunities to give yourself a competitive edge in your field.
